State of Muslims – Post Election Discussions

This month in “State of the Muslims” we will have a discussion about the outcome of this election and what to expect immediately and what does it take to allay the fears and apprehensions of a majority of the population.

Is there a hope?

We are a non-profit organization and a non-political organization, the discussion will center around, “What can you and I do” rather than “What can the Nation Do”. We will not blame a political party, we will look for solutions, so all Americans regardless of their party or religious affiliation can live in peace.

Americans are apprehensive, and statements and actions from the new President would be tremendously helpful and would allow the administration and the public to focus on living their lives instead of living in worries.

As American Muslims we uphold, protect, defend and celebrate the values enshrined in our constitution. Our faiths reinforce the idea of one nation with liberty and justice for all.

Write down your thoughts, and share it with the group, we may put a report together.

Some thoughts:

Out of the 331 Million Americans, 121 Million (37%) voted and over 90 Million (28%) did not vote in this election and the breakdown is as follows:

Hillary Clinton received 61, 047, 207 Popular Votes and 232 Electoral Votes
Donald Trump received 60, 275, 961 Popular Votes and 290 Electoral Votes

The Electoral college systems treats each one of the 50 states as a sovereign state of the Federation of Government, and through the system, Trump won more states than Hillary, even though Hillary has a higher number of popular votes. I have debated on this many times and have come to trust the system that has given us the most stable government over two centuries. Our system is a Democratic Republic, where each state small or big is represented with two voices (Senators) and a good Electoral College system.

An incredible number of Muslim organizations are committed to the safety and security of America, the following work is just the work of American Muslim Institution, a small brand new organization dedicated to building a cohesive America and thanks to you for placing your trust in us, we will deliver the results. We have done so much work in just a year, and if we can aggregate the work of all Muslim organizations the information is overwhelming.

As a society, it is our individual and collective responsibility to keep law and order and faithfully guard the safety of every citizen. Hate, prejudice and stereotyping are some of the many root causes of disrupting peace in a society. It is our duty to track down the source of such ill-will and work on mitigating it.

Let’s do our share of work,

Thank you,

 Mike Ghouse
